Using the Party Shuffle in iTunes to browse through my songs I hate seeing duplicates. TidySongs allows me to automatically delete iTunes duplicates so that the party shuffle shows the songs in my library.
Deleting duplicates from my iTunes used to be complicated and time consuming, before TidySongs. Now, when TidySongs looks up my duplicates, I set it to identify the duplicate in the comments field of the song. This way I can search for “duplicate” in iTunes and see a list of all my songs that are duplicates. TidySongs removes the songs and my party shuffle looks beautiful!
Use TidySongs to add iTunes Album Art. TidySongs will scan your iTunes library to find missing album art for your music. TidySongs will search for original album art over compilation/best of albums so that you can have the most accurate fixes for your missing album files.
As TidySongs finds all your missing album art you’ll rediscover some of your favorite albums. As I was rediscovering some of my own older album covers I also found I can get them on a bottle of wine?? Wines That Rock is now selling wine, labeled with album art. Currently, there are 3 wines for sale with 3 different albums, but the website says that plans to uncork more wines and more album labels are in the works. The first three: Forty Licks Merlot (Rolling Stones), Woodstock Chardonnay and The Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) Cabernet Sauvignon.
There are two ways to use TidySongs to remove duplicates from iTunes.
You can choose to identify the duplicates by allowing TidySongs to write “duplicate,” in the comments field. This way when you go into iTunes you will search for “duplicate.” Your iTunes will bring up a list of the songs TidySongs was able to identify.
or
You can use TidySongs to remove duplicates from iTunes and place them on your desktop (or the location of your choice). TidySongs is currently set up to move the files to your desktop, but you can choose to move the duplicates wherever you would like.
Dr. Jekell reviewed TidySongs for the blog InToWit.
“TidySongs checks against a database to find duplicates and get the correct album artwork, whether you’ve got the names of your songs right or not. It handles genres by giving you a list of the ones you have, and allowing you to rename and consolidate them so that they might actually be useful.”
“One thing I noticed is that TidySongs has its’ own online database. That is how TidySongs goes about fixing your songs. The song is searched for in the TidySongs online database, and then the data is downloaded to fix your song information. It’s simple, but very effective.”
Askar from DemoGeek reviewed TidySongs and described to users who TidySongs is useful to and how to clean up your music library.
“If you have too many songs on your iTunes library I’m sure you must have faced this issue before. How many times have you took the pain of going through one song at a time (probably) to fix the missing album names, artist name, genre and the other meta information on your song list? Wouldn’t you feel that’s a painful process? I’m sure you have.
TidySongs can help you with cleaning-up your iTunes library in a lot better and easier way. You can use TidySongs to edit song meta information. You can either do all the clean-up manually or your can let TidySongs do its job by letting it do automatically.”
Like all the other semi-obsessed geeky Apple fans out there, we were watching yesterday’s Apple announcement regarding new iPods and iTunes 9 – if you call constantly refreshing a web page to read scrolling text message snippits of the event since we weren’t invited…
As soon as it was available, we downloaded and started playing with iTunes 9. It crashed twice. I guess even the big guys have issues with new versions.
Some of you may be experiencing issues after installing iTunes 9 – notably, being asked for the location of your iTunes XML file. To fix this, simply upgrade TidySongs to version 1.575+ by dowloading it here.
This new version of TidySongs has numerous additional bug fixes, including ones that caused issues with the Find Duplicates function for some of you. Download load it and let us know what you think.
TidySongs is being featured on Submit CSS, here’s a description from the Sumbit Css website about their purpose:
Submit Css is a website which showcases only the best web site designs on the web and allows you (the web designer) to submit your css-based designs. Submit Css has been around for quite some time and since the begining, we’ve been trying to showcase only the sites that we feel deserve to be showcased. We try to keep out all of the non-deserving sites and incorporate all of the good ones.
iTunes and other programs rely on correct information in your songs to find album art. Not TidySongs. Even if your song names have misspellings or missing info, TidySongs' intelligent database technology will find the matching artwork.
